MCAAC Committees 2024
The Board of Directors establishes all working committees. Committee Chairs are board members. Committees may include MCAAC members and community volunteers. Committees listed below have responsibilities that include but not limited to the following:
Membership
Keeps membership records for membership year of January 1-December 31. Manages the annual membership drive held late November to early December. Makes follow-up contacts in January/February to nonrespondents. (The Board President traditionally sends thank you letters to include the organization’s 501(c)3 non profit status.)
Performance
Seeks out and coordinates performances for a variety of audiences.
Exhibits
Secures and curates exhibits for Winterfest, the Pellston Airport and other venues.
Marketing
Manages MCAAC website, Facebook page and any other social media pages. Writes press releases; assists in brochure design and distribution. Coordinates with other efforts to promote and publicize MCAAC and sponsored activities.
Education
Provides educational opportunities in the arts by offering workshops and classes for people of all ages including local folks and visitors.
Scholarships
Recommends partial scholarship awards for arts-related workshops and camps and for post-secondary education in arts-related fields.
Fundraising
Sponsors annual fundraising event. Explores funding via grants and other philanthropic avenues.
Venue and Operations
Explores and develops options for a year-round facility to base MCAAC operations, with space for staging exhibits and performances.
Nominating
The President shall appoint a Nominating committee of three at the annual membership meeting, including two board members and one member at-large. Committee members shall consider all candidates for Board positions to be filled at the next annual meeting. A slate of candidates for Board positions to be filled at the next annual meeting. The committee may recommend one or more candidates for each vacancy to be filled. Members may make nominations from the floor.
Board positions vacated by resignation may be filled by majority vote of the Board to serve any remaining term. New Board members will be eligible to serve two full consecutive terms at the conclusion of the appointed term.
